At the reception hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, ACI Chairman Seyit Ardıç presented projects that will contribute to Ankara industry’s investment, technology, export and green transformation goals, and submitted the ACI Technology Base, ACI Free Zone and Türkiye’s first Zero Waste Organized Industrial Zone for his high patronage. Chairman Ardıç also conveyed the expectations and proposals of industrialists to President Erdoğan and proposed the establishment of a Presidency of Health Industries directly affiliated with the Presidency.
Seyit Ardıç, Chairman of the Board of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ACI), brought to the agenda the projects that will strengthen the production, investment, technology and export capacity of the Capital’s industry, as well as the problems and expectations of industrialists, during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s reception of the Ankara delegation, which included Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat, Ankara Chamber of Commerce Chairman Gürsel Baran, Ankara Commodity Exchange Chairman Faik Yavuz and Ankara Development Agency Secretary General Duhan Kalkan.
Stating that they were greatly honored by the reception held within President Erdoğan’s busy schedule, ACI Chairman Ardıç said, “In line with our President’s Türkiye Century goals, we are working at an intensive pace to make the highest contribution to our country’s production, employment, technology capacity and exports. We presented to His Excellency our projects that will further strengthen the role of Ankara industry in our country’s development, as well as the expectations of our industrialists.”
ACI’S THREE VISION PROJECTS
Providing information at the reception on the ACI Technology Base, the ACI Free Zone and Türkiye’s first Zero Waste Organized Industrial Zone, Chairman Ardıç emphasized that the projects will make Ankara a center of high-technology production, qualified employment and value-added exports.
Stating that they aim to bring together high-technology production, R&D and entrepreneurship within the same ecosystem at the ACI Technology Base to be located in the Temelli Industrial Basin, Chairman Ardıç noted that upon completion of the project, more than 800 companies will operate there, creating qualified employment for 18,000 people and an annual export capacity of 1.5 billion dollars.
Chairman Ardıç stated that the ACI Free Zone is expected to host more than 200 domestic and foreign companies, provide employment for 40,000 people and reach an annual export capacity of approximately 4 billion dollars. He also drew attention to the importance of accelerating the necessary permits, planning and inter-institutional coordination processes for the implementation of the projects.
Chairman Ardıç also conveyed to President Erdoğan that they had taken action to establish Türkiye’s first Zero Waste Organized Industrial Zone in order to bring the Zero Waste Movement, which has set an example for the world under the leadership of President Erdoğan’s wife, First Lady Emine Erdoğan, to the center of industry.
Stating that, with the project planned on an area of approximately 5 million square meters, one factory’s scrap, waste heat and water will become another factory’s production input, Chairman Ardıç said they aim to create a new industrial model based on resource efficiency and industrial symbiosis.
Chairman Ardıç said, “We submitted these three projects, which will directly contribute to our country’s investment, technology, export and green transformation goals, for the high patronage of our President. His high patronage is of great importance in terms of strengthening coordination among relevant institutions, accelerating processes and completing the projects. This support will also provide great morale and confidence to industrialists in Ankara.”
“A PRESIDENCY OF HEALTH INDUSTRIES SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED”
During the reception, Chairman Ardıç also presented his proposals regarding the health technologies industry to President Erdoğan, emphasizing that this field is of strategic importance for the country’s independence and security, at least as much as the defense industry.
Stating that the foreign trade deficit in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals and medical devices has reached 4.3 billion dollars, Chairman Ardıç said that external dependence in critical health technologies must be reduced.
Proposing that the experience gained in the defense industry be transferred to health technologies, Chairman Ardıç said, “We conveyed to our President our view that a Presidency of Health Industries, directly affiliated with the Presidency, should be established in order to strengthen our production and supply security.”
HE CONVEYED THE EXPECTATIONS AND PROPOSALS OF INDUSTRIALISTS
Stating that industrialists maintain their determination to produce, invest and provide employment, Chairman Ardıç said that high financing costs, difficulties in accessing credit, exchange rate pressure and contraction in export markets are putting pressure on companies.
Drawing attention to the fact that the number of exporting ACI member companies declined from 3,025 in 2024 to 2,494 in 2025, Chairman Ardıç stated that 531 companies were unable to export within one year, and that 101 of these were companies that had exported continuously during the previous four years.
Chairman Ardıç also shared data on the financial outlook of companies, stating that 3,179 ACI member companies reported losses in 2025. Noting that the number of companies reporting losses has increased by 100 percent over the past two years, Chairman Ardıç warned that this trend could weaken investment, production and employment capacity and increase the risk of deindustrialization.
Chairman Ardıç said, “In order to prevent these developments from turning into a permanent loss of capacity, we submitted for our President’s high consideration the need to strengthen measures that will facilitate our industrialists’ access to affordable and long-term financing and preserve our competitiveness in foreign markets.”
ACI Chairman Ardıç stated that he believes the difficulties faced by industrialists will be overcome through President Erdoğan’s guiding policies and determined support, and said, “The renewed strengthening of our production and exports will increase the resilience of our economy and make our state even stronger. As the Ankara Chamber of Industry, we will continue to work with all our strength to produce more, invest more, create employment and increase our exports in line with our country’s goals. I present my deepest respect and gratitude to our President for his kind reception, close attention and valuable assessments.”
